Veterans Warned Of Phone Scam

A phone scam asking for credit card numbers is targeting veterans in Minnesota and across the country. Officials said an organization calling itself Patient Care Group is scamming veterans. The organization tells veterans it is handling prescriptions for the VA and tells people if they want to continue getting their medicine, they will need to provide a credit card number. “The VA has not changed the way it dispenses prescriptions,” said Tom Ramsey, Director of Pharmacy at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center. “If veterans or their families receive such calls, they should under no circumstances give out their credit card numbers. Veterans who have received similar calls are asked to call the St. Cloud VA at 320-255-6381. Officials from the St. Cloud VA add that no one, including veterans, should give their credit card information out in a phone call they have not initiated.
